Chezito impresses with 2 podiums, pole position and fastest lap in the Coseche Motorsports by Opel in Chile

Fernando Mendez, better known as "chezito" gave much to talk about this weekend in the category Coseche Motorsport by Opel in Codegua International Raceway in Chile.

After getting better in practice, he classified 1st place, surpassing 7/10 to outstanding Chilean race driver from the Brazilian Porsche GT3 Cup, Gonzalo Huerta, chezito closest rival for the weekend.

The first race, the Sport City race driver had ups and downs, as he made an excellent start, closely defended his 1st position in the first two laps, and made the difference being the fastest putting space with the pack of Opel's. 2 laps before the checkerd flag, the car suffered brakes fatigue and went out of the track, leaving the driver in 4th place in the race.

"We dominate the race after close fight in the first laps, but at the end of the race we suffered brake fatigue and could not stop the car. We were able to rescue a 4th place, although we were 1st, dominating throughout the race. "

For the second race to 12 laps, the Mexican race driver and instructor start in the 7th position. He quickly moved to the front of the race, becoming the fastest and pushing hard for the lead until the petrol him played a trick.

"The second race had a great start but complicated in seventh, somehow we quickly reach the top 3, but putting a lot of atenttion to take care of the brakes to avoid the problem of the first race. In 4 laps to go, we push the pace, get to 2nd place and put a lot of pressure to Gonzalo for the first place when the car ran out of gas. We had everything to go for the win, but it's a shame that this has happened."

By decision of the category, the result of the final race was cut leaving Gonzalo Huerta in 1st, 2nd Fernando Mendez, 3rd Ruy Barbosa, 4th Thomas Benavente, 5th Matias Villalobos.

Chezito concluded his weekend with podium in race #2 and the overall podium, fastest lap and pole position of the new Chilean top category, Coseche Motorsport by Opel.
