Wendell Black's "Baleno GT-R" is a clear and present demonstration of what a lot of vision and a little cash can do to turn a frugal econobox into a bonafide attention getter.

On the bonnet, the Nissan Skyline GT-R emblem seeks to set this Baleno apart from standard fare machines, as if the body kit isn't doing a good enough job already... Bought brand new in T&T from Neal & Massy, this little car was originally burgundy.

Wanting to give his ride the show car look, Wendell discovered that clear tail lights were NOT available for the Baleno. Tercel clear tails were grafted in along with the agressive body kit and bright red paint. Neons found their way under the car complete with glow pedals and leather seat covers (Bobby's).

Still not totally pleased, Wendell enlisted the help of Harry's in Maturita, Arima to round off the exterior paint and treat the inside to a dash of red.

Future plans include a Starlet 1.3 Turbo engine transplant, 17" wheels, sound and multimedia upgrades... How much did he spend so far? Check it out below. Wendell says "any car can be built well, depending on your vision and the skill of your modifiers..."

This ride is destined to become his personal antique, pride and joy and conversation piece for his grandchildren to marvel at. "But of course..." he says, "everything has a price..."
