we also decided to enclose the back porch a bit, and did smaller arches within the old larger ones

finally, we did a rubble drain to the front, to ensure water from the neighboring lots does not back up into our septic system

the pipes were all drilled and perforated

the rubble

Looks grand, MG!

(note to self: start practicing drinking in order to do the job properly when house-warming takes place)

ok guys, I reeeeeeeeeeeeeally need your opinion on something
So far, my vision for the big windows has always been to use 2 x 4 aluminium framing with tinted glass. I like the look of the chunky frames. However, I wanted the opening windows to be frameless, ie when you swing open a window, all you would see is glass, just as you see in those commercial glass doors with no frames
While I know this can be done, no local supplier is willing to think outside the box...they all offer standard windows fitted inside the frames, which in my opinion, will ruin the effect........

So..............I have found a supplier in China who is offering an amazing concept in frameless windows. The big differences are:
from the outside, you see no frames whatsoever. The glass is bonded to the outside
Secondly, I can't get the glass in the dark grey tint I wanted, only tinted blue (to hide the adhesive), and because of how the glass is applied, I am not sure how I will be able to attach tinted film

So....awesome frameless windows that have never been seen on a residential house as far as I know, and I reeeeealy like the look

My concern is, will they look odd or out-of-place on the house?
Take a look at the images and tell me what u think

my crude rendering of the concept

This is a sample of what they actually do

how you think the tint will look on the house?
blue / green tinted windows are really for commercial glass facades...........I just wondering how it will go with the rest of the house
will the windows stick out like a sore thumb?

This is Trinidad... anything that is different will be considered to be "odd" by the average idiot - who probably thinks that walking around with his arse out of his trousers, a small towel or wash-cloth in full view somewhere on his person, and only an article of underwear covering his torso is considered being well-dressed. That said, I think they will look quite good... they certainly won't appear like a fad - an unfortunate aspect of many local house designs.
The bottom line is that you have to be happy with them - you will have to watch them every day!

They will make the house look cool (I mean temperature-wise, but the house will look "cool" too!) and "green" as well - "environmentally friendly" kind of green, that is.

My dotish advice would be to not do the last (coloured) coat of paint until you see the precise colour of the glass windows. That way you could choose a colour scheme to match the glass - that way they wouldn't seem "out-of-place".

thanks for the input spikey Smile
I've decided to go with a local option....I thought abuot it, and decidede the frameless windows won;t go with the overall design of the house...
