a week of hard alco was the only means of recuperation mate.
took me that long to recover adequately enough. Laughing Laughing Laughing

and i had no idea the Scots were so evolved, that their nigh side testes were navigation aids. Embarassed Embarassed

still no luck getting the clutch release bearing, so I've adjusted the clutch as much as it will go, and it's working well enough for now

so................back to ever present 4k rpm flat spot
advice form my UK compadre is to do a 4k hard kill
ie launch the car and as it hits 4,000rpm and starts to sputter, kill the engine and stop the car...........then check the plugs for colour to see if at that point she's lean (white) or rich (black) Might indicate a timing or jetting issue
I'll also play with the points gap, on the offchance the dizzy shaft is worn (unlikely)

so..........never got around to the hard-kill, mainly because it sounds iffy to me
I'm gonna try a better fuel pump with higher volume first....well actually I borrowed a fuel pressure regulator so I can see what pressure the Mitsuba pump is pushing...I need 4-5 psi
In other news, the car has been parked for over a month now due to a noisy timing belt tensioner. The original tensioner / pulley is known for failure, and I ahve been pushing my luck, mainly because the upratedreplacement is very expensive..around 300 quid
Seems I have to send th eold one back to the UK and they will use it to make the uprated Works pulley...........I asked them to find a way to get one to me and I'll send the old one as part-exchange, rather than risk losing mine in the post before getting a new one
So.......new one on the way, along with a pair of new track rods and tailgate struts
I discovered the struts for the Peugeot 206 station wagon's opening rear glass window are virtually identical, just a tad bit longer. But they will work, so no more piece 'o wood to keep the tailgate aloft anymore Very Happy
That's the second part I've found common with a new model. The other is the interior light, which is identical to the cargo area light on the MINI Coper Shocked
I'm still amazed that a 30+ year old part is still being used in a modern production car.........it works for me Mr. Green Especially since the club was always saying it was an out-of-production part that was no longer available
My only problem is when my old light crumbled, the wires worked themselves back into the headliner.....I have no clue how to fish them back out, since I can't see up in there, even with a mirror Sad
