Weirdo, all project cars supposed to have dodgey gear shifters where only the everyday driver of the car knows where the gears are.

Saw her run at dex. Despite the loss of power she seems to be her old self once more. Cool

And that was on some seriously unworthy foreign used rubber Very Happy

Did a G-Tech Pro pull the other night and ran a 15.7 one-off best followed by a bunch of 16s passes so power is definitely down. If we had to do drags it would have to be in the 16s bracket right now. Considering that we still compete in the SS class at Solodex which is for 14-15s cars I'd say we're doing well.

The flat copper bearing seems to be gone, as the associated knock has come back (pilot bearing is good though), of course present only when the car is idling in neutral with my foot off the clutch pedal. I'll have to get a brand new original one which I think I'll replace when we do the engine rebuild.

I don't know how we forgot to add this but Project Rx7 is now rolling on foreign used 17" OZs. The left front rim has a very slight leak, resulting in a pressure check being needed about twice a week.

Why is the rim leaking? Because I parked the car on a hill with the wheels straight and it took itself for a drive 15 mins after into the concrete boxing for the drain. The rim was repaired and looks ok except for the burn marks from the repair job which can be polished out. The leak was a lot worse (20psi every 4 hours) until we tried the every popular fix-a-flat, now it is manageable (about 3-5psi every day).

I'm looking at a set of new 17" Goodyear Eagle F1s now that the leak has stabilized. Didn't want to risk damaging new tires thanks to a leaky rim. I plan to check out Automotive Art for a brand new set of 17" OZs once we can afford them.

I'm looking for a new front lip spoiler as well... car looks incomplete without it.

My little bro loved your car. Here are some pics he took from a dex meet back in March.

The first thing we saw when I pulled in was Narend drifting into a 180 Laughing

Now that I'm up in FL, I'm gonna look for a few things like ORIGINAL MAZDA SPARK PLUGS which are apparently the best things for rotaries, a new pilot bearing and see if maybe I can get me a right side door handle lol

Quick update... Project Rx7 has gotten a full engine rebuild after breaking a corner seal. When we opened the old engine the housings were scarred and damaged. Looks like they built the engine using old housings. Prior to this tear down we had installed the Haltech E6X. Power came back to the stock 186whp and we went up to 215whp on 92 Super pump gas safely on the dyno by Gus in Arima.

We now have new housings, the old rotors were good, new seals (full set) and are running the stock injectors and intercooler. According to the power-to-weight rules in Solodex, for the weight of this car (2900lbs) we can go to 248whp. Our tuning goal will be to reach the 220-240hp range with minimal ignition timing and running on 92 Super pump gas again with a "safe tune".
