Aright, so after figuring out that we had 2 burnt valves on #3cylinder on the daily driver - it was time for a head job..... Which at that point led to convincing wifey that we might as well so *some little* upgrades while the whole thing comes apart.. She agreed on the condition that we document it for Zorce... Yay!
DAY 1
So here's where we're at...
2G motor
12x26x4" intercooler
3" exhaust
16g turbo with internal westgate
With the motor hurt right now I can't bear to do a Dyno, we lucky if we make it to 185HP! So we'll say our start HP is 180. _________________ http://www.sparktechignitions.net |

I've been buying all the parts and working up to today. Here's the *little* list, hopefully by the end of the weekend we'd have it done and run some dyno next week.
1. 2G conversion to a 1G head (1G got bigger port)
2. 1mm oversize intake & exhause ferrea stainless steel valves
3. Crower valve springs & titanuim retainers
4. Brian Crower 272 CAMS
5. Precision SC32 Turbo
6. Cometic head gasket
7. ARP head studs
8. Power Enterprise kevlar Timing belt
9. stainless steel manifold
10. 38mm Tial westgate.

Here's some pics of the compressor wheel from the two turbos, comparing the two ...
1st two = 16g

hehe...
Aright the head off... here's the order of how things went...
First up had to get the head bolts after taking the valve cover off. There's a correct sequence that has to be followed when removing the bolts and putting them back in. You can always check any of the chilton manuals or so to get it.
So why the ARP studs?
Well just to clarify, I've already done close to 400HP to the wheels with a stock Head gasket and head bolts. It's just that we were pulling it all apart already. Also having the studs holds the extra cylnder pressure that we anticipating ARP recommneds 65ft lbs torque, however from my experience 100ft lbs torque is proven.
Got some help from wifey...
