novemeber 2004
Came acroos some 5 spoke 14"rims, so upgraded tires from 185/70/13 to 205/60/14.
Biggest tire that would fit comfortably in the wheel well, while maintaining affordability, and ride comfort..
Front tires needed to change anyway.

feb 2005
when checking air filters. i noticed that they seemed to be sucking apart. after returning 2nd filter to my parts supplier, he refused to sell me any more box filters, and told me to get a pipe made. Evil or Very Mad Laughing

Fortunately, i had a ractive cone filter lying around, so headed to Imraj, to get a pipe bent.

This did give an improvement in throttle response, as well as an encouraging roar.
Horn what?? just shift to neutral and rev, instant co-operation from other road users.

Car was losing oil, and were seeing signs of a leak down the front of the block, and by the distributor.
Changed the Tappet Cover Gasket, and the distributor seals. Seems this head's rubbers was not as in good shape as the original which developed a crack, more details on that later.
While there decided to service injectors, and clean fuel rail.
Noticed difference in car immediately. Where the A/F used to indicate lean between 2000-3000rpm, i'm constantly stoich / rich now.

Side effects of working on the dizzy, were stator disc wasn't correctly installed. leading to erratic idle. timing was retarded 2, during diagnosis, so now at 8. Corrected problem, but have not adjusted timing.
(possible drop in dyno figures)

Also in some spirited driving, lost most acceleration, remembered accel cable may not have been tightened on tensioner. Opened hood, cable was completely free of tensioner, 2 minutes later, the problem was solved.

Made a pull against a pardner earlier, beat him, but not convincingly enough. Accel cable may have been part of the problem.

Was trying to sort out some ignition fueling issues.
plug#4, and only plug#4 was fouling. as well as ignition rattle from 4700rpm......retarded ignition to 8

Serviced fuel rail and injectors some time ago, and finally disconnected battery to allow ECU to reset, and relearn cars fueling. now at the top end, AFR shows 1-2 in the rich, as opposed to 4-5 there.

car also pulled well tonight. crossed the 180km a few times, on the street tires, in 4th at 5300rpm, and dex is this sunday.

had a lil scare with the g/b though, twice i got a rough shift into second. topped up with NP gear Oil. (couldn't get the belray after 6pm in maraval), and so far seems to be solved. will have to try to rectify that leak though. while it doesnt create puddles when parked, the bottom of the box is always damp, with two drops clinging to the underside.

updates..................g/b leak.
still persists Sad Sad
have found the source a while ago though.............Axle seal, and the two sizes that Motorist carries are respectively larger, and smaller. so haven't been able to replace as yet. still on the hunt. Need to find out if this g/b was originally LSD. it is a 2nd hand unit from another tuner.

speaking of which, one year ago today, the conversion was done.......at least to the point where i was driving the car. Handled the springs, cross-member and g/b mount to make it "complete" after.
