Red Bull Smokin Streets!
Red Bull teams up with Jamaica Karting Club for an exhibition event on the streets of Kingston!

As I made my way to the media hospitality area, I could see that Knutsford Boulevard had been completely reconfigured into a proper racing track. The VIP area was operational and the fire services were filling the new water barriers. The pit area was ready and karts and drivers were being weighed in and final adjustments were being made. The course was laid out and after a few test runs by Peter Moodie Jr., some minor changes were made in the interest of safety. A few minuted later, the DJ came online belting out an excellent mellow vocal remix of "bad man forward, bad man pull up" and a representative from the Jamaica Millenium Motoring Club took the helm as the day's announcer.

Karters were then invited for a few laps of practice and then around 11am qualifying rounds began, class by class. There are five major competitor classifications for karting in Jamaica (see table below). According to the race programme, things were running like clockwork with the first Rotax pre-qualifiers race scheduled to start at 12:30. (Article continues on page 5)
