We bring you coverage of The Off Road Motorcycle Association of Trinidad & Tobago (TORMATT) event they had at their special course at Indian Trail, Couva.

TORMATT is doing a damned good job of reviving MotoCross in T&T. The last time we saw MotoCross was in the middle the circuit racing dirt infield some years ago. The guys put on a decent display but it seemed to be more of an exhibition at that time to us. Not so this time around... With kids, beginner, intermediate and advanced/pro classes there's room for the whole family to participate and spectate. There's no age or gender discrimination here as we even met a 10 year old girl who was competing in her 2nd meet! Bikes are of appropriate size to match the age groups and carry engine sizes of 50, 80, 100, 125, and 250cc. Both two stroke and four stroke engines are used. Safety gears are mandatory although is was apparent to us that many riders were using second or third hand equipment. All motorcycle shops in T&T will import racing gear for MotoCross racing though, so no worries there.

The track at Indian Trail is no pushover with no less than 10 jumps and numerous turns comlete with banking. The action runs excitingly close and we can only expect things to improve from here. So enjoy our photos and be sure to download the PDF report by TORMATT's Shaun Gianetti.
