At first glance, the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo looks as large as a Panamera compared to its sporty Taycan sibling. They both bring electrification to the market but the new Taycan Cross Turismo also adds loads of utility to the mix thanks to its extra space, estate configuration and adjustable air suspension that offers additional ground clearance. With its dark, gleaming paint, the new CT exuded Darth Vader coolness as we spotted it in our local showrooms at the Porsche Centre Trinidad & Tobago.

Although this unit shown had already been pre-sold, three configurations of the Taycan Cross Turismo are available– the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo, Taycan 4S Cross Turismo, and the Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo. Zero to sixty miles per hour times are 5.1 seconds, 4.1 seconds and 3.3 seconds respectively. While some drivers will prefer to own the highest horsepower models, some prefer the base model with all the bells and whistles.

Most cars for our local market will use the Performance Plus battery package (93.4kW) which means that you should be able to extract an average of around 350-450km of range from a full battery– depending on how you drive. Thanks to 800v architecture, it’s fast-charger friendly using the J1772 CCS Combo 1 connector. This is after all, a sports car at heart. And Porsche offers an 8-year or 160,000km warranty on the battery, so you can drive without holding back.

Now that we’ve covered the enthusiasts’ essentials, the new Taycan Cross Turismo also offers a 20mm higher ride height, with the off road package increasing that by a further 10mm. And as you can see, there is also a roof spoiler which adds to the overall sporty image. The suspension has been designed to tackle poor quality roads, making the Taycan Cross Turismo perfect for visits to work sites, estates and outdoor adventures– there’s even a gravel mode.

Taycan Cross Turismo also offers a 20mm higher ride height, with the off road package increasing that by a further 10mm.

Jump inside and you’ll enjoy 45mm more headroom in the back seats, and a larger, 446 litre, rear cargo compartment (up by 39 litres compared to the Taycan Sedan).

 

And of course this is before you fold the seats down for over 1200 litres of space. And with the large automated tailgate, airport runs will be a breeze.

 

Then after all that you still have the frunk, which will hold 1-2 carry-ons and/or some shopping bags. Sport and utility is taking on a whole new shape thanks to Porsche. 

 

Many Porsche clients already have three-phase current at their business places, which means that a 22kW or higher fast charging unit can be installed at work, with the ability to service multiple cars at once. Regular 220v home charging units can also be installed by your licensed electrician and as a last resort, a regular 110v outlet charger cable is also included. Additionally there are now over 9 locations in T&T, including Porsche destination charging stations at Piarco Plaza and the Trinidad Hilton and Unipet Chaguanas where you can access charging facilities. As electric vehicles become more popular we expect more charging stations to be installed across Trinidad and Tobago.
